    Private family services for Otho "O.B." Yoder, 87, of Saugatuck, Mich., were held at Saugatuck Chapel at Dykstra Funeral Home. Burial was in Riverside Cememtery. Mr. Yoder died Wednesday, Dec. 6, 1995, at Holland Community Hospital, Holland, Mich.

    Mr. Yoder was born April 27, 1908, in Elkhart, Indiana to Ray S. Yoder & Lettie Dillon Yoder. He graduated from Elkhart High School in 1926 and from Purdue University in 1930, with a degree in Chemical Engineering. He ran track in both high school and college and was a member of the record-setting 1925 Elkhart High relay team of Yoder, Teeters, Trautman and Steele whose record stood for about 40 years. He was a member of Sigma Pi Fraternity.

    Mr. Yoder was employed as a metallurgical engineer at ALCOA, retiring after 43 years. He had worked for ALCOA in new Kensington, and Pittsburgh, Pa., and ALCOA, Tennessee. He served as Assistant Chief Metalurgist at the plant in Pleasant Valley, Ia. He also served as an international representative for ALCOA with the Furakawa Aluminum Company in Nikko, Japan and for five years with Lipps Aluminum in Drunen, Netherlands.

    O.B. was an avid golfer and shot a hole-in-one on Oct. 12, 1984 at the 17th hole of the West Shore Golf Club in Douglas, Mich. He was a member of the Douglas Community Church for over 22 years. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Phyllis Pamperien Yoder; two sons, Kirby Yoder of Shanghai, China, and Chris Yoder of Riyadh, Saudi Arabia; grandchildren Ray, Roy, and Ryan Yoder of Ia., Christian and Jerusha Yoder of Tn.; great-grandson Andrew Yoder & a brother Raymond Yoder of Elkhart, In.

    Otho married Phyllis Pamperien, "Yoder" on 28 Jun 1948. Phyllis (daughter of Frederick George Pamperien and Lilian Hayden Austermell, "Pamperien") was born on 29 Mar 1913 in LaGrange, Cook, Illinois, USA; died on 16 Jan 2005 in Battle Creek, Calhoun, Michigan, USA; was buried after 16 Jan 2005 in Saugatuck, Allegan, Michigan, USA.     Phyllis Pamperien Yoder, 91, of Saugatuck, Mi, died Sunday, January 16, 2005, at her son, Chris's home in Battle Creek.
    She was born March 30, 1913 to Frederick G. and Lilian (Austermell) Pamperien in La Grange, IL. She graduated from Lyons Township High School, where she sat in Art Class beside Charles Vickery, a later noted marine artist. She attended Community College, Whittier College in California (the class behind Richard Nixon) and graduated in 1935 from Earlham College, Richmond, IN.
    Phyllis worked for the American Butter Institute located in the attic of the Chicago Board of Trade, testing butter for impurities. For the next 65 years, she would only have Land of Lakes Butter on her table. During the war years, she worked for ALCOA (Aluminum Company of America) as a metalographer, threatening to shut down the production line on occasion when she failed to get adequate samples to quality test for use in allied aircraft. As plant photographer she was also key to the War Bond efforts.
    On June 28, 1948, she married O. B. Yoder. He preceded her in death on December 6, 1995. Surviving are her sister, Elizabeth Schultz, Arlington Heights, IL; her sons, Chris (Carroll) Yoder of Battle Creek and Kirby (Betty) Yoder of Hendersonville, NC; grandchildren, Christian (Jennifer) Yoder of Mt. Juliet, TN; Jerusha Hayden Yoder, Columbus, OH; Ray (Rose) Yoder, Clinton, IA; Roy (Sue) Yoder of Davenport, IA; Ryan (Alyssa) Yoder, Hendersonville, NC; Sister-in-law, Betty Yoder (Mrs. Raymond) of Elkhart, IN; and four great-grandchildren. She was much beloved by her family and a host of friends around the world.
    She and O.B. enjoyed an active career with ALCOA, living in Maryville, Tn; Mt. Lebanon, PA; Davenport, IA; Tokyo and Nikko, Japan; and the Netherlands before their retirement in 1973 to Saugatuck. They were members of the Douglas Community Church.
    Phyllis and her family summered in Saugatuck begining in the 1920's and have owned a cottage property in the township since 1927. She loved gardening, shopping, crafts, reading mysteries, and was an accomplished painter. At the time of her death, she had over two years remaining on her Michigan Driver's License.
