It's been two weeks since my mom passed away suddenly and unexpectedly. It still doesn't seem real and it still doesn't make sense. But I wanted to take a minute to thank all of my family, friends, and neighbors for all of the texts, calls, messages, cards, flowers, food, and beverages. Dette synes Pete så interessant ut og søkte jobben, og i slutten av måneden startet han hos Donnelleys' Plymouth Court.

Pete startet som copyholder og ble en crackerjack proofreader, en karriere som skulle bli over 30 år lang, og som innebar proofreading on pressproofs and the marking of press plates.

På grunn av multippel sklerose måtte Pete slutte å arbeide i 1957.

Han fortsatte fra oktober 1960 å skrive sin egen spalte i - The Lakeside Review - som het Pete's corner, en spalte over Donnelleys pensjonister.
