  	Stanley Lee Stephenson, age 72, of rural Austin, Mower county, Minnesota, died on August 27, 2008 at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester, Olmsted county, Minnesota. Stan was born on April 4, 1936 outside of Swaledale, Iowa, to Benjamin and Louina (Jordahl) Stephenson. He graduated from Riceville High School in 1954 and attended the University of Iowa. On November 8, 1957 he married Jane Srnec in Winona, Minnesota. Stan worked with his father Benjamin starting in 1962 in the Federal Crop Program and remained in this occupation, as a crop insurance agent, until his death. His interests included NASCAR, building and flying radio control airplane models. Survivors include his children, Julie Stephenson, Austin, Dennis and Ann (Tubbs) Stephenson, Austin, Karen Stephenson, Austin, William Stephenson (Jeanne Blaser), Austin, Janine (Brian) Nordland, Owatonna, Janice (Joel) Maxfield, Sparta, Wis.; grandchildren, Adam Stephenson, Caitlin Stephenson, Erik Stephenson, Joe Stephenson, Jacob Nordland, Brynn Nordland, Andy Maxfield; siblings, Lee (Mary Lou) Stephenson, Mason City, Iowa, Barbara (Fred) Haven, Riverside, Calif., Donna (Chuck) Kidder, Riverside, Calif. He was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin and Louina Stephenson; by brothers, Lyle Stephenson and Robert Stephenson; by a granddaughter, Cassandra Jane Nordland; and by in-laws, William and Eva Srnec. Private graveside services will be held on Sunday, August 31, 2008 at Grandview Cemetery south of Austin. Visitation will be held from 3 - 7 p.m. on Saturday at Mayer Funeral Home, and again on Sunday from 2 - 4 p.m. at St. Edward's Church. The casket bearers will be: Denny Stephenson, Willy Stephenson, Joel Maxfield, Brian Nordland, Adam Stephenson and Joe Stephenson. The Mayer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
