- HERSHEY - Jeanne A. Cowden, 85, of 363 Hockersville Road, Hershey, died Thursday, Oct. 5, 2000, at the Hershey Medical Center. Born May 22, 1915, in Lewistown, she was a daughter of the late Lloyd and Mary Edna (Snook) Aurand. Her husband, John "Jack" W. Cowden, survives. Also surviving are: a son, Robert K. Clare, Greencastle; a sister, Helen Wetzler, Lewistown; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was a 1933 graduate of Lewistown High School and was a retired secretary from the former Olmstead Air Force Base, Middletown. She was a member of the Hummelstown United Church of Christ, where she volunteered as a greeter and baby-sitter in the nursery and helped with the Belfry Echoes monthly church newsletter. She was a member of the National Associated of Retired Federal Employees. She enjoyed writing postcards and letters and solving word jumble puzzles. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Hoover Funeral Home and Crematory, 1225 W. Chocolate Ave., Hershey, with the Rev. Mark J. Johnson officiating. Interment will be in St. Mark's Cemetery, Lewistown. Memorial contributions may be made to the Derry Township Senior Citizens Mohler Center, 660 Cherry Drive, Hershey, PA 17033
