    Edna J. Stephenson, of Burnsville, formerly of Rose Creek, died on Wednesday, May 10, 2006.

    She was born in Bennington Township, Minn., on Aug. 21, 1926, to Nils and Anna Johnson. Edna attended LeRoy Public School.

    She married Lyle J. Stephenson on April 19, 1944, in LeRoy, Minn. They were dairy farmers in the Rose Creek area, where they established a nationally- renowned herd of Registered Ayrshire Cattle.

    Edna was a member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Austin, the St. Olaf Church Circle, and the Red Hat Society in Burnsville. She devoted her life to taking care of her family and friends in need. She also enjoyed celebrating her Swedish roots, having made three trips to Sweden to visit relatives there.

    She is survived by her daughters: Judy (Gary) Luebke, of Rosemount, Minn.; Cindy (David) Blomquist, of Hastings, Minn.; son, Randy (Janet) Stephenson, of Rose Creek, Minn.; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
    Edna was preceded in death by her husband, Lyle Stephenson; son, Larry Stephenson; parents, Nils and Anna Johnson; brother, Einar Johnson; and sister, Agnes Breen.

    Reviewal will be from 5-8 p.m. Sunday, May 14, 2006, at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 15, 2006, at St. Olaf Lutheran Church.

    Casket Bearers will be Travis Blomquist, Gary Luebke, Tom McCloskey, Andrew McCluskey, Justin Schultz and Kurt Sorgatz. Honorary bearers will be Angela Luebke-Schultz, Kristina Luebke-McCluskey, Alysha Blomquist, Carrie Sorgatz, Sarah Stephenson and Kate Stephenson.

    The family prefers memorials in lieu of flowers.

    LEROY:

    The two-year-old son of a former Leroy couple was killed Saturday when his father backed a truck over him.

    The boy was playing behind the vehicle when Lyle Stephenson, a Riceville, Iowa, farmer, moved it. He did not see the child until the truck had passed over his son's body.

    Dead is Larry Stephenson, who lives six miles south of Riceville. He was born May 23, 1947, in Iowa.

    He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Stephenson, his grandparents, Mrs. Anna Johnson of LeRoy, and B.C. and Louina Stephenson of Riceville.

    Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. today at the LeRoy Lutheran Church. Rev. R.M. Christensen officiated. Burial was in the Leroy Lutheran Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were handled by the Martz Funeral Home.

    RICEVILLE, IOWA:

    Larry Allen Stephenson, 2, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Stephenson, six miles southwest of Riceville, was killed instantly at about 1:30 p.m. Saturday when struck by a truck driven by his father.

    Dr. R.L. Whitley, Osage, Mitchell county coroner, said the right rear wheel passed over the boy's head as the father backed out of the barn. The father checked the left side of the truck but didn't see the boy.

    According to the coroner, the father thought the youngster was napping in the house. The boy was the Stephensons' only child.

    Funeral services will be held today at Leroy.

    Larry Alan Stephenson Dies in Accident.

    Funeral services for Larry Alan Stephenson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Stephenson, who live six miles southwest of Riceville, Iowa, were held June 6th at 2 p.m. from the LeRoy Lutheran Church. Services were conducted by the pastor, Rev. R. M. Christensen. Interment was in the Leroy Lutheran Cemetery.

    Casket bearers were Pat Sours, Donald Halver, Carl Moe and Bobby Brownlow.

    Larry was born May 23, 1947 and met his tragic death on June 4th. He was instantly killed at 1:30 p.m. Saturday when struck by a truck driven by his father.
