    Sagnet sier at Sebastian lot rømme hjemlandet for å berge livet i religionskrigene. Kjæresten hans het Beatrice. Foreldrene hennes var katolikker, og da de fikk vite at hun ville gifte seg med protestantiske Sebastian, stengte de henne inne i kloster. Sebastian befridde henne på eventyrlig vis, og seilte til Norge med skatten sin.

    Dette er vel helst et plagiat av et gammelt riddersagn.

    Sebastian skal være født i London i september 1591, og så flyttet han til Norge for å drive trelasthandel (som faren, Georg) omkring 1610 (ifølge Kåre Hasselberg, Simonsen Genealogy).

    Til Nordmøre skal Sebastian ha kommet omkring 1614, kom til gården Settem i Halse sogn, Nordmøre.
    Han var bosatt i Åsgård fra 1617.

    Gift ca.1617 med Ingeborg Audunsdatter Trygge, f.ca.1585, d.1671. Ved ægteskapet med Ingeborg fik Sebastian ejendommene Åsgård, Bæle, Husby, Halset i Stangvik, Myrset og Neddal i Kvernes, samt Indre Knarvik i Halse tinglag. Ved makeskifte med kronen erhvervet han i 1639 Sættem i Sættemsøren, mot Neddal og en del av Myrset.

    Når Sebastian reiste til Norge, så har nok dette stått mer i samband med spekulasjon i trelasthandel enn med religion og kjærlighet.
    Nettopp i denne - hollendertida - var det penger å gjøre her til lands i trelasthandel, og mange utlendinger slo seg ned i Norge utetter 1600-tallet.

    Sebastian skal ha vært av engelsk landadel. På en altertavle som han skal ha gitt Stangvik kirke etter at han kom til Åsgård, sies det at våpenmerket hans sto innskåret 2 hvite duer og en bikube (Hans Hyldbakk).

    Den 15.januar 1619 fikk Sebastian Withe på Asphaug i Rindalen av Claus Daae bevilling til å drive en sag på Settem i Nordmøre mot 10 dalers avgift.

    I 1639 fikk han ved - Mageskifte - Settem mot odelsgården Nedal i Kvernes.

    Michael tok over gården Settem etter at moren døde på Åsgård i 1671.

    I skiftet etter Michael i 1697 var gården med påstående hus og sagbruk utlagt til kjøpmann Erik Mosberg i lille-Fosen, for hans krav i boet på 210 riksdaler, som - Mikkel - i 1692 hadde lånt av han. Til husene på gården var også medreknet 2 kakkelovner, som var en rik eiendel på en gård på denne tiden.
