From 1946 to 1949, she attended Iowa State University where she received her bachelor of science degree in home economics. Following her graduation she worked for a short time at a gas company in Pittsburg, Kan., before marrying Earl Christian of Roland on Jan. 10, 1950.

Earl and Lucille farmed between Roland and Story City. She worked for R.H. Donnelly's and Iowa State University before retiring from the National Animal Disease Laboratory in Ames in 1980.
Lucille enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, gardening, antiquing, attending auctions, traveling, watching ISU sports (especially basketball), following current events and politics and quilting.

Lucille was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and nine brothers and sisters, Tunice Linge, Ruth Hoiness, Marvin Linge, Hazel Berg, George Linge, Johnny Linge, Fletcher Linge, Dagny Robinson and Maymie Carlson.
