    Irene Skrogstad was born Sept. 3, 1912, in Milton, N.D., the daughter of Hans and Marion (Olson) Skrogstad.

    She attended school in Cavalier County, N.D., and married Manley Tollefson March 13, 1937, in Milton, N.D. They lived in Fargo and farmed in Hay Township, Cavalier County, N.D. She lived in Borg Memorial Home, Mountain, N.D., before she moved to Maple Manor.

    She is survived by her husband; sons, Virgil, Seattle, Stanford, Pollock Pines, Calif., and Donald, Pelican Rapids, Minn.; daughters, Janice, Mazatlan, Mexico, Ione (Mrs. David) Feistamel, Osnabrock, Marlene (Mrs. Doug) Wind, Wyoming, Mich., and Loretta (Mrs. David) Marlowe, Kansas City, Kan.; 15 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; sisters, Helen Widness, Grand Forks, and Evelyn Hanson, Murdock, Minn.; brother, Melvin, Fargo; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by daughters, Candice and Carol; brother, Howard; and sister, Myrtle Nygard.

    Mr. Skrogstad was born April 3, 1922, near Milton, N.D., where he grew up and attended school. On Oct. 19, 1947, he married Mary Stabo. They farmed for several years near Milton and Osnabrock, N.D. In 1963, they moved to Mapleton, N.D., and then to Fargo in 1965. He was a contractor in Fargo for 25 years and a veteran of World War II.

    He is survived by his wife; three sons, Jeff (Peggy), Burnsville, Minn., Will (Dawn) and Mike, both Minnetonka, Minn.; four daughters, Janet (Murray) Serfling, Huron, S.D., Maggie (Lyle) Heinle, Tower City, N.D., Barb (Jeff) Perreault, Alexandria, Minn., Julie (Cameron) Merkel, Harwood, N.D.; 16 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

    Visitation: Sunday from 4 to 6 in Hanson-Runsvold Funerl Home, Fargo.

    Age 71 of Brooklyn Park, passed away on Oct 12, 2020 surrounded by his dear family. Preceded in death by his father, Johnny and mother, Myrtle. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Adriana; sons Daniel (Adrienne) and Thom; grandson, Spencer; sister, Joyce; brothers, Rodney (Jan) and Wayne (Elin); nieces, nephews, and many loving relatives and friends. Clint was a longtime employee of Anderson-Crane in Mpls. His smile will continue through all of us and always in our heart. He will be greatly missed. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

    Wayne Nygard went to be with his Lord and Savior on May 10, 2021 at home with his loving wife, family, and Hospice by his side.

    Wayne Lyle Nygard was born in Grafton, ND on December 31, 1950 to Johnny and Myrtle Stella (Skrogstad) Nygard. Wayne attended Tiber School District No. 77 for 5 years, then transferred to Edinburg Public School, where he graduated. Wayne proudly served his country in the Air Force for 4 years. He worked as a missile electrician on the guidance system for the Hound Dog missile. Wayne was grave digger for 26 years and hobby farmer over 40 years. At age 50, he began working for Thrivent Financial for Lutherans as a financial representative, where he thoroughly enjoyed helping others.

    Wayne met the love of his life, Elin Jerstad, at a Bible study picnic in Cavalier. He knew quickly Elin was the one, but she took some convincing. They were married on March 7th, 1981 and recently celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary.

    Wayne was a faithful servant of the Lord: teaching Sunday school, serving though pulpit fill, sitting on the church council, leading others to faith in Jesus, and helping those in need. Adherence to the scriptures was very important pertaining to every aspect of life. He boldly shared his faith.

    Wayne had a deep passion for the great outdoors. Gardening, berry-picking, hunting, and raising farm critters brought him much joy. He was a dynamic storyteller and historical reference. Wayne loved learning and teaching. He was active in his community in multiple ways, including 4-H, school field trips, and community service projects. Wayne took pride in his Norwegian heritage, promoting it through Sons of Norway, lyceums at area schools, and carrying out family and holiday traditions. He was known for his cookies, breads, and pies, which he loved to share with others.

    Wayne is survived by his wife, Elin, daughter Anne Kristine (Jack) Hanks, son Jon Nygard, and daughter Tina (Scott) Stockdill, granddaughter Eliana Hanks, sister Joyce Nygard, brother Rodney (Jan) Nygard, sister-in-law Adriana Nygard, many nieces and nephews, as well as honorary daughter Betty Hurst, and honorary grandsons Jason Hurst, Daniel Hurst, Cody (Mariah) Ellis, and Xavier Ellis. Wayne was preceded in death by his parents and brother Clinton Nygard.

    Funeral services will be Saturday, June 5, 2021 at 1:00 PM at Grace Free Lutheran Church of Edinburg, ND. Military rites will be provided by the Edinburg American Legion and the U. S. Air Force Honor Guard. Inurnment will be at Odalen Lutheran Cemetery.

    OBITUARY: Merlin - Jim - H. Skrogstad
    FEBRUARY 17, 1943 – MARCH 24, 2019.

    Merlin H. - Jim - Skrogstad, 76, died on Sunday, March 24, 2019 in Owasso, Oklahoma after a courageous battle with several serious illnesses.
    Jim was born February 17, 1943, in Grafton, North Dakota, the son of Howard and Mabel (Flom) Skrogstad.

    Jim (known as Mernie when he was up North) was devoted to family and from a young age worked alongside his family on their farm, near Milton, ND. He had fond memories and loved to tell stories of his boyhood on the farm.

    In 1964, Jim was inducted to the U.S. Army and in 1966 was transferred to the Ft. Sill Army Base in Oklahoma. While living in Oklahoma he met and married Jone Elizabeth Lee [Duke] and was blessed with two bonus children, Rosemarie and Sandra. They were married for 49 years at Jone’s passing in 2015.

    In addition to working for the Civil Service until retirement, Jim was part owner of The Grill Restaurant in Duncan, Oklahoma. He had many hobbies throughout the years which included repairing televisions and also CB and Ham radios, skeet shooting, photography and screen printing clothing. During his retirement years, he owned a used car dealership that put to use all the cars he would buy at auction and repair. He finally realized his dream to become a pilot of small airplanes and also rebuilt several of those that he sold. His last project was restoring two antique tractors.

    Jim is survived by his daughters, Rosemarie [Lee] Dyke (Dan) of Tulsa, OK and Sandra (Lee) Warner (Randy) of Moore, OK; sister Melva (Skrogstad) Boe (Ellerd); grandchildren Randilyn Warner Walker (Leander), Ryan Dyke (Kristina) and Alan Dyke (Alissa); great grandchildren Ella Grace Walker, Crystal Durocher, Devin Durocher, Aaron Dyke and Raegan Dyke; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife, Jone Elizabeth Skrogstad (Duke) and his sisters Eunice Duden (Skrogstad) and Sharon Sprague (Skrogstad).

    Services are at Dighton-Moore Funeral Service, 116 North Main St., Owasso, Oklahoma. A private interment will be held at Duncan Municipal Cemetery in Duncan, Oklahoma.

    Eunice Fern Skrogstad was born April 17, 1945 in Grafton, ND to Howard and Mabel (Flom) Skrogstad. She was raised in the Milton, ND area. She received her education in East Alma Township country schools, Mountain and Milton public schools, graduating from Milton High School in 1962. She attended Aaker?s Business College in Grand Forks. She then moved to Crookston, MN where she worked at St. Francis Hospital, Polk County Bank, Norgas, and finally Eco Lab in Grand Forks, retiring due to health reasons.

    On April 18, 1964 Eunice was married to Marlyn Duden. They lived in Crookston until 1980 when they moved to East Grand Forks, MN and in 1997 to Grand Forks, ND.

    Eunice is survived by her husband Marlyn, one daughter Brenda Duden (Tim Bachman), Detroit Lakes, MN and one son Brian Duden (Bethanie Oslund), Grand Forks, ND and one granddaughter Ashley Duden (Brett Vondal) Fargo, step granddaughter Nikki Stotesbery, Sioux Falls, SD. Also surviving are one brother Merlin (Jone) Skrogstad, Owasso, OK and one sister Melva (Ellerd) Boe, West Fargo. Several Nieces and Nephews.

    She is preceded in death by her parents, one daughter Lori Ann, one sister Sharon Sprague.

    Funeral Services will be Thursday, April 3, 2008 at 11:00 AM in Calvary Lutheran Church, 1405 South 9th St., Grand Forks ND. Visitation will be for the hour before the service in the church.

    Sharon Dianne Skrogstad was born Feb. 22, 1949, the daughter of Howard and Mabel (Flom) Skrogstad in Grafton ND. She was raised and educated in the Milton, ND area. She graduated form Milton High School in 1967. She attended the University of North Dakota, Grand Forks, graduating from there in 1971.

    Sharon married James Sprague, Jr., on May 22, 1971 in Grand Forks. They moved to Michigan City, IN and later to Bloomington, IN.
    She created the Peaceable Kingdom Toy Company, which made wooden and soft toys. She was on the founding committee of the Fourth Street Art Festival and a founding member of the By Hand Gallery, both in Bloomington, IN. In her later years she worked for the Monroe County Community Mental Health Center and the Bloomington Hospital as a drug and alcohol counselor.

    Sharon is survived by one son, Jeremy Sprague of Bloomington, her mother, Mabel Skrogstad, Grand Forks, ND, one brother Merlin (Jone) Skrogstad, Duncan, OK, two sisters Eunice (Marlyn) Duden, East Grand Forks, MN and Melva (Ellerd) Boe, West Fargo, ND.

    She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

    She was preceded in death by her father Howard Skrogstad in 1989.

    A memorial service was held at Milton Lutheran Church on April 21, 1998. Pastor Alan Arneson officiated. Pastor Arneson is married to Sharon's niece, Lisa. Those providing music were Pastor Arneson, Melva's kids, and spouses and a family friend, Diane Fossum. After the service, time was spent at the church visiting with family and friends. Then the family went to the graveyard where Sharon had previously been buried and then to the farm where Sharon grew up. We shared a wonderful day together as a family sharing our sadness and fond memories.

    Dennis Myron Hanson was born on March 1, 1943 in Benson, MN the son of Julius and Evelyn (Skrogstad) Hanson.
    Denny grew up and attended rural school, graduating with the Class of 1961 from High School in Kerkhoven, MN.
    He then attended Wilmar Community College learning the trade of Auto Mechanic. He then went on and attended the Minnesota School of Business in Minneapolis, MN.

    He married Ann Gustafson and to this union had two children, Angela and Tracy.

    He began working as an Auto Mechanic at Hansord Pontiac Dealership in Minneapolis, MN.
    Denny then moved to Montevideo, MN where he owned and operated a service station.

    Denny met Barbara J. Agre at a support group for widowers & divorced in Montevideo, MN.
    They moved to East Grand Forks, MN in 1988 where they both attended the University of North Dakota.
    On March 16, 1991 Denny was united in marriage to Barbara in Grand Forks.

    Denny started his own business of doing remodeling work until his retirement due to ill health.

    Family members who survive Denny include his wife Barbara of East Grand Forks, MN, children:
    Angela (Dan) Hanson and their children, Krista and Nicole of Eagan, MN, Kyle (Rachael) Agre and their children Amelia and Anthony of Fargo, ND, Stacy (Jason) Amundson and their children Noah, Natalie and Nicholas of East Grand Forks, MN, Tracy (Dean) Jaycox and their children Andrew and Caleb of Pipestone, MN, Kristin (Jody) Beauchamp and their children Davis, Connor and Garret of East Grand Forks, MN; one brother Richard Hanson; mother-in-law: Bernice Norman.

    Preceding Denny in death are his parents Julius and Evelyn Hanson .

    Janet Serfling, age 62, of Huron, died Thursday, June 1, 2017, at her home. Her funeral service was held at 10:30 AM, Thursday, June 8th, at the Our Savior's Lutheran Church. Burial was in the Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to James Valley Christian School, Beadle County Humane Society or a charity of the donor's choice.

    Janet Marie Skrogstad was born November 17, 1954, to Melvin and Mary (Stabo) Skrogstad at Princeton, Minnesota.
    She graduated from Fargo North High School in 1972.
    On November 17, 1973, she married her true love, Murray Serfling at Peace Lutheran Church in Fargo.

    Janet faced many health concerns over the years. After nearly 20 years of living with diabetes, she received a pancreas transplant 15 years ago, from an anonymous donor. The following year she received a kidney transplant, with the kidney donor being her husband. The transplant gave Janet a new lease on life.

    Over the years, Janet has enjoyed babysitting, shopping, spending time with family, and coffee dates with her church friends. Janet loved baking, reading mystery novels or cookbooks, and watching mystery shows and old TV programs. Most of all, Janet relished the role of Grandma. She never missed an opportunity to spend time with her grandkids. She could often be found playing dress up or silly made up games with them.

    In 2016, Janet and her husband purchased the company where he had been employed for the previous 44 years. They renamed it Easi Pour, and were very proud of this recent milestone.

    Janet is survived by her husband, Murray Serfling of Huron; their children, Megan Serfling, Holly (Darric) O'Brian and Gregory Serfling, all of Huron; her beloved grandchildren, Wyatt, Sofia and Maddigan. She is also survived by her mother, Mary Skrogstad; her sisters, Margaret (Lyle) Heinle, Barbara (Jeff) Perreault and Julie (Cameron) Merkel; her brothers, Will (Dawn) Skrogstad, Michael Skrogstad and Jeffrey (Peggy) Skrogstad, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, two aunts and her in-laws.

    She was preceded in death by her grandparents, father and a great niece.
