    Det var med vemod jeg leste i Romsdals Budstikke at Per Sandhaug så plutselig var gått bort. Per var moldegutt, og vokste opp i Frænaveien, og blei, som vi andre i nabolaget, med i Bakkegjengen. Vi hadde Banehaugen og Ranvikhjørnet som vårt eldorado, og leiken gikk livlig med Titten på hjørnet og Tjuv og politi. Per var også interesserte i fotball, og spilte på begge byens lag, Træff og MFK. I ung alder begynte han å bringe telegram på Televerket, og fikk siden sin utdannelse der. Per hadde sine kunnskaper, og kunne ha nådd langt, men sykdom gjorde det umulig. Takk for barne- og ungdomsår. Fred med ditt minne.

    Minneord over Per Sandhaug. En Moldegutt er gått bort, en som de siste 3 åra bodde i Kr.sund. Der møtte han dessverre sin brå, og for oss som var hos ham, sjokkerende død.     Anecdote1:
    Torkild var en bauta i Moldes forsvarsrekke fra 1962 til 1978, og spilte 104 kamper i toppserien fra 1974. I perioder var han spillende trener, og etter at han ga seg som aktiv spiller, også hovedtrener for MFK et par sesonger.

    Torkild Brakstad står oppført med 3 A-landskamper, alle i 1974:

    15.august: Norge-Finland (1-2) i Oslo.
    4.september: Norge-Nord Irland (2-1) i Oslo.
    30.oktober: Jugoslavia-Norge (3-1) i Beograd.

    Debutsesongen for Molde i øverste divisjon ble spennende.. Moldes så lenge ut til å bli seriemester i 1974 etter mange fantastiske kamper både hjemme og borte, men det glapp på målstreken. Først et ufortjent tap 4-3 borte mot Vålerenga. I siste kamp gjorde MFK jobben sin mot Sarpsborg borte, Viking måtte minst greie uavgjort borte mot Strømsgodset. Tross stort SIF-press endte kampen i Drammen 0-0. Stavanger-laget ble seriemester.
    Jeg er ikke bitter for at det ikke ble gull. Vi vant sølv og det ble også bronse i 1977, minnes Brakstad.

    Molde:
    Torkild Brakstad var med på hele byggeperioden, fra han debuterte på MFK-laget som 16-åring i 1962. Etter hvert ble han den opplagte lagkapteinen, og spillende trener. I denne perioden sammen med Harry Hestad og Jan Fuglset – to andre av de aller største fotballprofilene MFK har fostret.
    Det krydde av talenter i klubben på 1960- og 70-tallet. Vi hadde trenere og ledere som var oppdaterte. Det gjorde at vi tidlig snappet opp nye ideer og metoder, sier Torkild.

    Jan Fuglset, Harry Hestad og Torkild Brakstad overtok lagledelsen etter at treneren Joe Hooley hadde trukket seg tidlig i sesongen. Til tross for trenertrøbbelet vant MFK sin avdeling suverent og rykket opp til 1. divisjon.

    Occupation:
    Fotballtrener i Tromsø Idrettslag i årene 1982 og 1984, der han la grunnlaget for opprykket til 1. divisjon fotball for herrer 1985.

    Torkild fulgte med til Tromsø da kona begynte på legestudium i Nordens Paris tidlig på 1980-tallet. Han bodde i byen i 4,5 år og hadde en høy stjerne hos mange fotballinteresserte i byen. Som trener for Tromsø førte han laget fra 3.divisjon og helt opp i Eliteserien, med Per Mathias Høgmo som en av spillerne. TIL vant opprykkskampen mot Moss i 1985.

    I 1986 var han trener en kort periode i Rosenborg, deretter Molde før alvorlig sjukdom samme år gjorde at han måtte legge denne karrieren på hylla. Samme år ble hans gamle klubb TIL cupmester. Brakstad hadde lagt mye av grunnlaget for suksessen.

    Occupation:
    Kortest regjeringstid som trener på Lerkendal har Torkild Brakstad som ledet Rosenborglaget i bare 10 serierunder i 1986. Allerede etter halvspilt sesong fikk moldenseren sparken. Da var Torkild Brakstad iferd med å kjøre laget ned i 1.divisjon.

    Han forlot Rosenborg tidlig i 4.juli etter et spilleropprør ledet av Trond Sollied.

    Fra VG 12.juli 1997.:

    ...Torkild Brakstad, tidligere trener i Tromsø, Molde og Rosenborg, opplevde sportslig motgang som særdeles ubehagelig. Han fikk høyt blodtrykk - og midt under en seriekamp mellom Strømmen og Molde i 1986 - ble han rammet av hjerneslag.

    Jeg vet ikke om det var presset på meg som trener, eller et familiært genetisk forhold, som førte til at jeg ble rammet av slag, sier Torkild Brakstad.

    Men Brakstad, som i dag er tilbake i jobb som adjunkt igjen i hjembyen Molde, kan skrive under på at en toppklubbtrener med motgang, kan oppleve et helvete.

    Det tøffeste er at du blir offentlig eie. Jeg fikk ikke fred i Trondheim når RBK tapte. Det var så ille at jeg måtte ut av byen for å spise middag med familien på restuaurant, sier Torkild Brakstad...
