Gary L. Skrogstad, age 63, of Sterling, died Saturday, August 10, 2019 at Rock River Hospice and Home in Sterling. Gary was born September 6, 1955 in Sterling the son of Leslie and Rebecca (Stone) Skrogstad. He married Virginia Burger on September 8, 1979 in Sterling. She preceded him in death on May 20, 2017. Gary was employed at Sterling Steel as a crane operator for many years.

Survivors include one daughter, Nicole Skrogstad of Sterling; one sister, Judy (John) Burgess of Harmon; one granddaughter, Elyiana Weatherby; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; one son, Derek Lee; one sister, Jeanetta Gerdes; and two brothers, Larry Skrogstad and Duane Skrogstad.

Visitation will be Wednesday, August 14, 2019 from 4:30 to 6 p.m. at the McDonald Funeral Home in Rock Falls. The funeral service will be Wednesday at 6 p.m. with Pastor Dalmus Meeks officiating.

STERLING – Virginia Skrogstad, 64, of Sterling, died Saturday, May 20, 2017.

She was born March 28, 1953 in Sterling, the daughter of Leslie and Doris (Royer) Burger Sr. She married Gary Skrogstad on Sept. 8, 1979, in Sterling. Virginia had worked at the former Anixter for 16 years, and then did sewing and alterations from her home. She enjoyed working crossword puzzles, cooking, and crafting. She enjoyed family time, and especially the many duties of being a loving grandma to Elyiana.

Survivors include her husband, Gary; her daughter, Nicole Skrogstad of Sterling; her sisters, Penny (Carl) Murray of Rock Falls, Rozanna (Dick Clementz) Burger of Rock Falls and Mellody Burger of Sterling; her brothers, Rodney (Sue) Burger of Sterling and Randy Burger of Arkansas; her granddaughter, Elyiana Weatherby; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Derek Lee, in infancy; her sister, Diane; and her brother, Leslie Jr.
