    Funeral services for Jerry Jordahl, 67, of St. Ansgar, were held Saturday, April 26 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in St. Ansgar with the Rev. Byron Northwick officiating. Burial was in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery. Jerry died Tuesday, April 22, 2003 at the Mitchell County Memorial Hospital Hospice Unit.

    Jerry was born March 5, 1936 in Rake, Iowa to Joseph and Margaret (Olson)Jordahl. He graduated from St. Ansgar in 1954. He attended Waldorf College from 1954-1955. He served in the United States Army as a member of the 526th Field Artillery Missile Battalion at Fort Sill, OK from 1956-1958.

    He married Gloria Hansen on June 9, 1956 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, St. Ansgar.

    Jerry worked in the furniture business for 36 years most recently retiring from Dungey's Furniture, Osage, IA where he served as store manager.

    Jerry was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in April of 2000. During the following 3 years Jerry's strength and will to survive touched many lives. He became a source of consultation and inspiration to others suffering from pancreatic cancer throughout the country. He was always willing to listen and offer encouragement to all he spoke with. He became active in the American Cancer Society and he, along with his wife Gloria, were chosen as the honorary co-chairs for the Mitchell County Relay for Life in 2002.

    Jerry was inducted into the St. Ansgar Booster Club Athletic Hall of Fame in April of 2002 for his outstanding athletic achievements.

    Jerry enjoyed golf, gardening, and working in his workshop. He loved traveling and especially enjoyed his Panama Canal Cruise with friends and a trip to the East with Gloria. His life was his family and he loved spending time with his four grandchildren. He wll be dearly missed by all his friends and family.

    Jerry was preceded in death by his father Joseph and father-in-law, Lloyd Hansen.

    Jerry is survived by his wife, Gloria; his children, Kari (David) Fomon of Coralville and Erik Jordahl of Bettendorf. Grandchildren Josh and Kristin Fomon and Taylor and Nicholas Jordahl; Mother, Margaret Jordahl and Mother-in-law, Wilma Hansen; Brother-in-law Richard (Helen) Hansen of La Habra, CA and his niece, Dana Schauster and nephew, Mark Hansen.

    Funeral services for Joseph S. Jordahl, 65, of St. Ansgar, who died Friday, August 11, were held Monday, August 14 at First Lutheran church here with the Rev. Stephen Engelstad officiating.

    Joseph Jordahl was born in Blue Earth, Minn. October 21, 1912, the son of Hans and Bessie Jordahl.
    He lived there until he entered college and eventually went into teaching.

    He married Margaret Olson of Rake, April 21, 1935; and a son, Jerry, was born to them.

    Mr. Jordahl taught and coached in various sports at public schools in Rake, Fonda and Mitchell before coming to St. Ansgar in 1940 where he continued to coach and teach until his retirement in 1974. Mr. Jordahl enjoyed teaching and coaching young people, and for most of his life was an avid fisherman and hunter. In later years he took up the game of golf which he thoroughly enjoyed until his health failed, and after surgery in 1977 he never completely recovered. Joe always remembered his former students and usually had some interesting anecdotes to relate concerning them at class reunions.

    He is survived by his wife, Margaret; son, Jerry and his wife, Gloria; two grandchildren, Kari and Erik, all of St. Ansgar; a sister, Mrs. Nellie Burke of La Mesa, Calif. and a number of nieces and nephews.

    Burial was in First Lutheran cemetery with Rev. Engelstad in charge of the committal services.

    While teaching at Rake, she met and married Joseph S. Jordahl on April 21, 1935.

    She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Gloria Jordahl; granddaughter, Kari and husband, David Fomon, of Coralville; grandson, Erik of Bettendorf; great-grandchildren, Joshua and Kristin Fomon, Taylor and Nicholas Jordahl; and several nieces and nephews.

    Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph; her son, Jerry; three brothers, one sister and one niece.

    Synneva Sølfestsdotter f. 28.juli 1847 flytte til Fjærland i Balestrand der ho 8.juni 1870 gifte seg med Johannes Lasseson frå Bøyum i Fjærland. Han var son av husmann Lasse Larsson på Sva under Bøyum og kona Britha Johannesdotter frå Mundal og f. i Balestrand 14.august 1846.
    Johannes og Synneva var ei tid innerstfolk og sidan strandsitjarar på ein plass under Bøyum i Fjærland, men utvandra i 1885 til Amerika.
    Under namni John og Synneva Boyum finn me dei att som farmarar i Bandon township, Renville Co., Minn. der John d. 9.august 1915. Synneva Boyum d. i Blue Earth, Minn. 20.oktober 1922.
    Dei fekk visstnok i alt 7 born, men eitt av desse, truleg født i Amerika, d. kort etter fødsli utan at me kjenner korkje namn eller datoar. Dei andre 6 borni var:

    Ho var dotter av husmann Lasse Larsson på Sva under Bøyum og kona Britha Johannesdotter frå Mundal og f. i Balestrand 7.desember 1865.
    Hans og Anna utvandra til Amerika i 1892 og busette seg i Blue Earth, Faribault Co., Minn. der Anna d. 7.mai 1903. Hans Jordahl d. under ei vitjing i Miles City, Mont. 6.mars 1934. Hans var butikkmann - store clerk - og han og Bessie vart buande levetidi ut i Blue Earth, Faribault Co., Minn. Hans fekk i alt 7 born; av dei var ein son frå andre ekteskapet med Bessie Boyum.
