    Lyle J. Stephenson, 82, of Rose Creek, died Wednesday evening, July 3, 2002, at the Adams Healthcare Center.

    Lyle J. Stephenson was born May 1, 1920, in Blue Earth, Minnesota, the son of Ben and Louina Stephenson. He was the oldest of three brothers and two sisters.

    In 1921, his family moved to Mason City, where they lived until Lyle was 11. He then moved to a farm in Cerro Gordo County.

    Lyle married the former Edna Johnson of LeRoy, on April 19, 1944. They began farming in Riceville, Iowa. In 1955, Lyle and Edna bought a farm near Rose Creek, giving it the name of Treasure Acres. They raised purebred, registered Ayrshire dairy cattle, showing them at fairs for over 45 years and winning numerous local, state, national and international awards.

    Lyle has served many organizations in various capacities. He has been a member, director, vice-president and president of the Livestock Breeders Association; member, director and president of the Purebred Dairy Cattle Association and the Minnesota Ayrshire Association. Lyle was instrumental in organizing the Southeastern Minnesota District Ayrshire Association, serving as president twice.
    He was a member of the Dairy Herd Improvement Association for 30 years.
    Lyle received the - Friend of 4-H - award for his many years of service as a 4-H leader and coach of the livestock judging team; the Minnesota Outstanding Registered Dairy Cattle Breeders Award in 1979; was inducted into the Mower County Livestock Hall of Fame in 1987 and the Minnesota Livestock Hall of Fame in 1989. He served on the Marshal Township board for 21 years and was a member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church.

    Lyle is survived by his wife, Edna, of Rose Creek; daughters, Judy (Gary) Luebke, of Rosemount; Cindy (Dave) Blomquist, of Hastings; and son, Randy (Janet) Stephenson, of Rose Creek; grandchildren, Angela and Kristina Luebke, Travis and Alysha Blomquist, and Carrie, Sarah and Kate Stephenson; brothers, Lee Stephenson and Stanley Stephenson; sisters, Barbara Havens and Donna Kidder.
    He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Robert; and son, Larry.

    Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m., Sunday, July 7, 2002, at the funeral home and Monday at the church for one hour before the service.

    Edna J. Stephenson, of Burnsville, formerly of Rose Creek, died on Wednesday, May 10, 2006.

    She was born in Bennington Township, Minn., on Aug. 21, 1926, to Nils and Anna Johnson. Edna attended LeRoy Public School.

    She married Lyle J. Stephenson on April 19, 1944, in LeRoy, Minn. They were dairy farmers in the Rose Creek area, where they established a nationally- renowned herd of Registered Ayrshire Cattle.

    Edna was a member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Austin, the St. Olaf Church Circle, and the Red Hat Society in Burnsville. She devoted her life to taking care of her family and friends in need. She also enjoyed celebrating her Swedish roots, having made three trips to Sweden to visit relatives there.

    She is survived by her daughters: Judy (Gary) Luebke, of Rosemount, Minn.; Cindy (David) Blomquist, of Hastings, Minn.; son, Randy (Janet) Stephenson, of Rose Creek, Minn.; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
    Edna was preceded in death by her husband, Lyle Stephenson; son, Larry Stephenson; parents, Nils and Anna Johnson; brother, Einar Johnson; and sister, Agnes Breen.

    Reviewal will be from 5-8 p.m. Sunday, May 14, 2006, at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 15, 2006, at St. Olaf Lutheran Church.

    Casket Bearers will be Travis Blomquist, Gary Luebke, Tom McCloskey, Andrew McCluskey, Justin Schultz and Kurt Sorgatz. Honorary bearers will be Angela Luebke-Schultz, Kristina Luebke-McCluskey, Alysha Blomquist, Carrie Sorgatz, Sarah Stephenson and Kate Stephenson.

    The family prefers memorials in lieu of flowers.

    Le Roy Cemetery.

    B. C. Stephenson, 73, died Monday afternoon after suffering a heart attack.
    He resided on Austin Rt. 5, and was an agent for Federal Crop Insurance. Surviving are his widow, Louina; two daughters, Mrs. Fred (Barbara) Havens, Mrs. Charles (Donna) Kidder, Riverside, Calif.; three sons, Lyle of Rose Creek, Lee of Mason City, Stanley of Austin; 21 grandchildren; one great-grandson; a brother, Verne of Austin; a sister, Mrs. Grace Howell, Mason City.

    Funeral services will be held Friday.

    Louina died while visiting her daughters in California.

    Funeral services were held in California at Preston and Simons Mortuary Chapel on Monday, March 14, 1977, at 3:30 PM, Dr. Kenneth P. Miller officiating. Funeral services were also held in Minnesota.

    Mrs. Ben (Louina) Stephenson, 79, died unexpectedly Friday at Riverside Community Hospital, Riverside, Calif.
    She resided at 1213 4th Ave. SE and is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Fred (Barbara) Havens, Mrs. Charles (Donna) Kidder, Riverside; three sons, Lyle of Rose Creek, Lee of Mason City, Iowa, Stanley of Austin; 21 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Nellie Burke, La Mesa, Calif.; a brother, Joe Jordahl, St. Ansgar.

    Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Worlein Funeral Home, Rev. Carl Borgwardt officiating. Interment will be in Grandview Memorial Gardens. Friends may call from 9 a.m. Wednesday until time of service.
