    Ellen. 83, was born in Minneapolis, MN to parents Albert and Ethel Johnson. Ellen was the youngest of six siblings with four brothers Albert, William, Lee, Richard and one sister Florence. Ellen lived in various Twin City locations until she moved to Kasson to live with her brother Lee who was teaching school. Ellen graduated from Kasson High School in 1950.

    Ellen married Glenn Boyum on June 4, 1950. Ellen and Glenn moved into the current residence that year. Ellen was a Kasson resident for 66 years. Four children filled their hearts and home over the next 11 years, Sharon (Dallas Ness), David (Kim), Sandee (Doug) Kimble) and Kristine (Keith Knutson). Ellen was blessed with and enjoyed 12 grandchildren Marlo, Katie, Maggie, Rachael, Jeremy, Glenn, Lee, Mark, Adam, Corey, Andrew and Zachary along with 12 great grandchildren Gabe, Laney, Miles, Aiden, Addy, Austin, Bode, Jordy, Jaxon, Aidan, Scarlett and Charlotte.

    On early vacations the family camped in Yellowstone National Park, Montana, Colorado and Washington DC. This was before tent camping was a popular family activity as Ellen remembered going to three different camp grounds in Yellowstone before finding someone to camp next to.

    Later vacations included trips to resorts in Northern Minnesota with Joe's Lodge in Bemidji a favorite retreat. Ellen and Glenn celebrated their 25th Wedding anniversary in Hawaii. The family also recalls great trips to Florida.

    Ellen was a competitive golfer and captured many trophies from the Zumbro Valley Ladies League. She enjoyed playing cards with her friends during card club night. However Ellen's real hobby passion was quilting and knitting. Ellen created with cloth and yarn the way some people paint portraits. Every family member appreciated the quilts, scarves, hats, sweaters and pillow cases Ellen created. Ellen also knitted prayer shawls for the Lutheran Church. Ellen was also an avid reader.

    Ellen was a long standing member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Kasson. She participated in making Lefse and serving the Lutefisk supper....a long standing tradition at St. John's. Ellen and Glenn joined other church members on a trip to Norway where they visited the town of Boyum. Souvenir Boyum stones were found secured in a canister in their home.

    Ellen had many careers, Homemaker, Health and Beauty Aid shelf stocker and the Keebler cookie lady.

    Ellen was preceded in death by her husband Glenn and all of her siblings.

    Funeral celebration will be 2PM on Sunday May 1, 2016 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Kasson, MN with Pastor Randy Fett officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. There will be no reviewal. Burial will be at Maple Grove Cemetery, Kasson, MN.

    In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials to The Kasson Public Library and St. John's Lutheran Church.

    Ellen married Glenn R. Boyum on 4 Jun 1950. Glenn (son of Sanford Boyum and Lillian Eleanore, "Boyum") was born on 2 Apr 1928 in Dodge, Minnesota, USA; died on 2 Sep 2010 in Kasson, Dodge, Minnesota, USA; was buried on 7 Sep 2010 in Kasson, Dodge, Minnesota, USA. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
