Under krigen fungerte Harald Eivind Marentius Moe som Distriktskommandointendant på Vestlandet, og i okkupasjonstiden var han sjef for Distriktsforvaltningskontoret i Bergen. Han ble kalt til London våren 1945, og han kom frem like før den tyske kapitulasjonen.
