She created the Peaceable Kingdom Toy Company, which made wooden and soft toys. She was on the founding committee of the Fourth Street Art Festival and a founding member of the By Hand Gallery, both in Bloomington, IN. A memorial service was held at Milton Lutheran Church on April 21, 1998. Pastor Alan Arneson officiated. Pastor Arneson is married to Sharon's niece, Lisa. Those providing music were Pastor Arneson, Melva's kids, and spouses and a family friend, Diane Fossum. After the service, time was spent at the church visiting with family and friends. Then the family went to the graveyard where Sharon had previously been buried and then to the farm where Sharon grew up. We shared a wonderful day together as a family sharing our sadness and fond memories.
