- Sioux Falls- Marvin H. Oines, 92, died, Sunday, April 9, 2006 at the Good Samaritan Village.
Funeral service will be at 2:00 PM on Thursday, April 13, 2006 at First Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls with burial at Beaver Creek Lutheran Cemetery in rural Harrisburg, SD.
Marvin H. Oines, son of Albert and Jennie (Olson) Oines, was born August 7, 1913 in Brookings County, South Dakota. Marvin grew up on the family farm and graduated from Brookings High School in 1932. After his graduation he continued to farm. On June 11, 1939 he married Iola Nelson at the First Lutheran Church in Brookings, SD. He continued to farm until 1952 when the family moved into the city of Brookings. The family then moved to Harrisburg, SD in 1954 where they lived for 9 years. He and his wife were caretakers of Shetek Lutheran Bible Camp in Slayton, MN from 1963 to 1966. The family returned to Sioux Falls in the fall of 1966 where he worked in various custodial and maintenance positions until his retirement in 1979. In April of 1996, Marvin and Iola moved into the Good Samaritan Village Campus in Sioux Falls where Marvin resided until his death.
After fifty-nine wonderful years of marriage Marvin's wife Iola died on September 8, 1998.
Grateful for having shared his life are his 3 daughters, Rosalie (Raymond) Ramstad, Custer, SD; Judy (David) Van Veldhuizen, Sioux Falls, SD; and Margaret Holm, Apple Valley, MN; his son, Allen (Jerri) Oines, Rapid City, SD; 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-grandson.
He was preceded in death by his wife Iola, parents, four brothers, two sisters and one grandchild. [2]
