Later, he moved to Brooklyn to become oil treater at the Sone and Fleming plant...
The Humboldt refinery was located near Plumer in Venango County, Pennsylvania, south of Titusville.
In the 1866-1867 Jersey City Directory, he is listed for the first time as Frederick, oil refiner, h r 364 S Sixth.
In the 1870 Census, he is enumerated in (Greenpoint) Kings County, New York as - Wrager - with wife - Dinah - (this should have read Catherine; in what would appear to be an enumerator error, Catherine was listed as the same name as the wife at the previous address) and sons Henry and Frederick, daughter Minnie (Wilhelmina).
In 1880 Census, he is identifed as employed as - oil refiner - living at 105 Diamond Avenue, Brooklyn.
In 1900 Census, he is employed as - Saloonkeeper - with sons Henry, John and Albert as - Yachtsmen - son Charles as - housecarpenter - and Otto as - Boatsman - living at 130 Communipaw Avenue, Jersey City.
In 1910 Census, he is - Saloonkeeper - with wife Mader. In the 1900 Census, a Mater Weber, servant, is listed. Apparently they married between 1900 and 1910. [1]
