    Ved fetellingen i 1657-1658 var dette registrert i Hesledalen:
    1 hest, 6 kuer og 7 sauer.
    Skatten for hesten og kuene var 56 skilling, og for sauene 7 skilling. Det må være Jesper Hesledalen som betaler denne feskatten med 63 skilling. Han er fra samme tid nevnt i skattelistene som eier av hele skylden, 1 tønne.

    Det heter i 1661 at lensherren hadde kjøpt retten til hogst av tømmer til sagene sine i Hesladalsskogen, og at Jesper var en fattig mann.

    Ved folketellingen i 1664 er Jesper 56 år og sønnen Nils er 20 år.

    Han er ofte nevnt i tingbøkene i 1660- og 1670-årene som lagrettemann.

    I 1665 førte han en sak om Bondal mot Hølje Midsund, fra Sundbygda i Kviteseid, og den saken vant Jesper.

    I 1676 bodde han ennå på Hesledalen, og ble saksøkt av en Skiensmann for gjeld på 24 riksdaler, men navnet var Jesper Flåten. Jesper Hesledalen sa da ifra om at han aldri hadde bodd på Flåten, og aldri hadde vært skyldig denne gjelden. Det må ha vært Jesper Stivi sin gjeld fra den tiden han bodde på Flåten. Han var død i den største fattigdom.

    En hører ikke mer om Jesper Hesledalen. I 1682 er Torkild Halvorsen Håve blitt eier.

    Skifte etter Jesper var i 1688. Boet eide 1 tønne i Hesledalen, Vestigard, kjøpt for 160 riksdaler og Åkre taksert til 53 riksdaler.
