Name Hilda Julitta Boreson Suffix "Boyum" Birth 28 Sep 1877 Neenah, Winnebago, Wisconsin, USA [1] Gender Female Death 18 Apr 1947 Duluth, Saint Louis, Minnesota, USA [1] - Mrs. I. J. Boyum, who has been seriously ill for the past 7 weeks, died at St. Luke's Hospital this, Friday, morning at 7 o'clock. Death was due to cancer. Everything that medical skill and loving care could do was done for her. Throughout her long illness her family have been in constant attendance at her bedside.
Mrs. Boyum's maiden name was Hilda Boreson. She was born Sept. 28, 1877, at Neenah, Wis, and grew to womanhood there.
She trained as a deaconess nurse and served in the Deaconess Hospital in Minneapolis and later in St. Luke's Deaconess Hospital, Grand Forks, following the profession for 6 or 7 years.
Then in 1902 she returned to Neenah, Wis., for her marriage to Iver J. Boyum on October of that year. The same year Mr. and Mrs Boyum came to Fergus Falls to reside, and in 1904 they purchased the present family home on Lincoln Avenue west.
Mrs. Boyum was a devoted wife and mother, and a devout Christian. She never wearied in helping others. As a faithful member of the First English Lutheran church she was active in the Ladies Aid throughout her long residence here, and was particularly interested in the Alaskan missionary work of the church. She was also an ardent Red Cross worker. Her memory will be cherished not only by the family circle, but by a host of friends.
Surviving are her husband, 5 daughters and 2 sons.

Mrs J. A. Middleton (Emma) of Dublin, Ga.; Mrs. G. O. Imm (Alice) of Burbaok, Calif.; Mrs. J. O Branford (Helen) of Portland, Ore., Mrs. F. L. Hall (Dorothy) Dublin, Ga.; Mrs. Gordon Paske (Louise) Minneapolis; John Boyum of Santa Monica, Calif., and Arthur, Minneapolis. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren, and one brother, Elmer Boreson of Neenan, Wis.
Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock in the First English Lutheran church, Rev. C, K. Preus officiating. Interment will be in Oak Grove cemetery. [1]
