She was born March 28, 1953 in Sterling, the daughter of Leslie and Doris (Royer) Burger Sr. She married Gary Skrogstad on Sept. 8, 1979, in Sterling. Virginia had worked at the former Anixter for 16 years, and then did sewing and alterations from her home. She enjoyed working crossword puzzles, cooking, and crafting. She enjoyed family time, and especially the many duties of being a loving grandma to Elyiana. Survivors include her husband, Gary; her daughter, Nicole Skrogstad of Sterling; her sisters, Penny (Carl) Murray of Rock Falls, Rozanna (Dick Clementz) Burger of Rock Falls and Mellody Burger of Sterling; her brothers, Rodney (Sue) Burger of Sterling and Randy Burger of Arkansas; her granddaughter, Elyiana Weatherby; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Derek Lee, in infancy; her sister, Diane; and her brother, Leslie Jr.
