  	For some reason, the family identified mostly with their Fladeboe family. When I (Jann Fladeboe) first started researching my genealogy, I talked to my grandfather's sister, Maemie, and she could not remember her grandparents' names, thoughshe had known them! It took me a long time to discover they were Aase and John. Maemie was the youngest, so perhaps if I had started when the olderones were still living, the answer would have been different. Maemie (datterdatter) remembered a bit about her Boyum aunts and uncles, but nothing about her grandparents. Her family never lived in the sameplace as the Boyums, who moved around a bit. When they came to North Dakota, it was not yet a state; it was just Dakota Territory. They had - proved up - a land claim in Minnesota, which meansthey had lived on it for a certain number of years and created a farm. Then they sold it for money and proved another claim, doing this every few years tomake money, moving back and forth between Minnesota and Dakota/North Dakota. [2]
